Penn admission application
Please note that the admissions process to the University of Pennsylvania is a separate one to the Thouron Awards, and candidates must be aware of the relevant deadlines and time scales for both. Details and application material can be obtained through the University of Pennsylvania website or by writing to the relevant School Admissions Office.
A list of eligible programmes can be found within the Application Materials section. This list is updated each year, however, if an applicant is interested in a programme not on the list please contact Jennie Eldridge for further information.
Candidates should note that many schools and departments at Penn require or strongly recommend that applicants submit scores from standardised tests such as the Graduate Research Examination (GRE) and General Management Admissions Test (GMAT). Information about registration and UK test sites can be obtained from Education Testing Service http://www.ets.org or the Fulbright Commission http://www.fulbright.co.uk.
The deadline of 2nd November 2010 is absolute, and applications received after this date will not be considered.

Selection process
Academic criteria dominate the initial selection process and are underpinned by an academic pre-selection stage. However, in addition to his/her academic standing the Selection Committee takes into consideration a candidate's personal qualities and therefore candidates are asked to provide details of extra curricular activities and interests as part of their application. Candidates will be required to expand on this information if selected for interview (see interview process for further details).
All applicants will be notified of the outcome of the initial selection stages by mid- December.
Interview process
Following the initial selection stages, a shortlist of candidates will be invited for interview in central London on 14,15 January 2011. Candidates will be asked to participate in a full day of interviews, which will include a formal panel interview, group discussion and a personal interview, commencing at 9am and running through to approximately 6pm.
It is expected that candidates who are successful at interview will be offered awards in early February.
