The Thouron Award supports graduate study at the University of Pennsylvania, for final-year undergraduate students or recent graduates of any university in the United Kingdom. Applicants must be British citizens and have completed their secondary schooling within the U.K. The Award covers full tuition and fees for up to two years of study in most graduate degree-granting programmes offered by Penn’s twelve graduate schools.

Funding after the first year depends upon annual confirmation of a Scholar’s satisfactory progress towards their chosen degree. In addition to tuition and fees, the Award includes an annual stipend sufficient to cover living costs and to encourage entertainment and travel, as well as health insurance.

In recent years, Thouron has granted as many as ten Awards for study at Penn and a similar number for study in the U.K. As a general rule, the Award will not provide funding for a period longer than that requested in a Scholar’s application. Further, with regard to degree programmes that have a standard or expected period for completion (such as most Master’s programmes), the Award will not provide funding beyond that period.
