Philadelphia is well located for exploring U.S. life beyond the campus. Trains leaving 30th Street Station, just a few blocks from Penn, go across the vast continent – but also put New York and Washington only a couple of hours away. Right next to 30th Street, student-oriented bus lines such as Bolt and Megabus have cheap, regular inter-city service.
The city is also an easy drive to the scenic Appalachian Mountains, inviting Atlantic beaches and quaintly rural Pennsylvania Dutch countryside.
