Projected Itinerary

The following times are approximate and subject to change. Our lineup of speakers, panelists and workshop leaders will be announced shortly.

All events are exclusive to Thouron Award Alumni, with the exception of the formal dinner on Saturday evening where guests are welcome to attend.

Friday: 6 February 2026

  • Friday afternoon/early evening arrival to settle into accommodation (booked separately)
  • 6:30 p.m. — Welcome reception introduces the programme of activities
  • 7:30 p.m. — Light dinner
  • Optional drinks afterwards

Saturday: 7 February 2026

  • 9:30 a.m. — Doors open
  • 10:00–11:30 a.m. — First session  
  • 11:30 a.m. — Coffee break
  • 12:00–1:15 p.m. — Keynote speaker  
  • 1:30 p.m. — Light lunch
  • 2:30–4:30 p.m. — Workshop/breakout groups
  • 4:30 p.m. — Free time until dinner
  • 4:45–6:30 p.m. — Optional workshop
  • 7:30 p.m. — Drinks are served
  • 8:00 p.m. — Formal dinner, guests welcome

Sunday: 8 February 2026

  • Free morning
  • 10:30 a.m. — Farewell brunch
  • 1:00 p.m. — Alumni departure

Dress Code

Dress code throughout the days is suggested as smart casual. Smart for the Friday night dinner and black-tie for the Saturday night dinner.

Travel & Accommodations

Travel

Rittenhouse Square is easily accessible.

Trains

Two train stations, Suburban Station and Amtrak’s William H. Gray III 30th Street Station, are a short walk or cab ride away.

30th Street Station is less than one mile from The Rittenhouse, a 15-minute drive or 18-minute walk along a pedestrian-friendly route.

Air

The Rittenhouse is located 7.6 miles from the Philadelphia Airport, approximately a 30-minute drive. The hotel does not offer a shuttle service, but private transportation can be arranged through the Concierge. Taxis and ride-sharing services are readily available both at the airport and throughout the city.

Parking

The Rittenhouse offers overnight valet parking for $70 with unlimited in and out privileges, valid until 6 p.m. on the day of departure and daily valet parking for $32 and $26 daily if validated by their restaurants or spa.

The hotel also offers electronic vehicle charging stations available with parking. For EV parking, an additional charge of $30 per day of charging ($100 total) is applied.

*Note: oversized vehicles are charged an additional $10 (suburban sized or above).

Accommodation

There are a number of rooms held at The Rittenhouse for guests attending the Symposium. Any guest who wishes to book a room should contact Toni Price directly via toniprice2@mac.com.

There are also a number of hotels within convenient distance of Rittenhouse Square highlighted via the Visit Philadelphia site: https://www.visitphilly.com/tag/rittenhouse-square-hotels/.

You can also use sites such as booking.com or hotels.com to look for other suitable accommodation in the area.

The Rittenhouse has a 24-hour concierge service and is also a pet-friendly hotel.

Accessible Features and Amenities

The Rittenhouse Hotel is compliant with the ADA (Department of Justice ADA Title III Regulation 28 CFR Part 36, 1991), and welcomes guests of all abilities.

Rittenhouse On-Site Facilities:

Parking: Valet parking only

  • There is space for a van with side ramp to pull up in valet area
  • Parking garage height is 6’6″.

Public spaces:

  • The hotel is non-smoking
  • Main entrance is wide enough for wheelchairs and 360 degree turns
  • Elevator access is available to all floors
  • There is an accessible washroom on the first floor

Accessible Rooms:

  • Large doorways and ample space for wheelchair to easily move about
  • Telephones are located next to the bed and reachable
  • Accessible rooms have roll-in showers in the bathroom
  • Showers have seats
  • Shower heads are reachable and can be hand-held
  • There are grab bars in the showers and next to the toilets
  • Bathroom sinks are lowered with ability to fit a wheelchair underneath
  • Visual, flashing fire alarms are equipped in accessible rooms in case of fire
  • In-room telephones have audible signals to indicate messages

Braille service guides and restaurant menus can be printed with 72-hour notice.
